UMC Pride Collective Participates in Sac Pride 2020

Member churches of the UMC Pride Collective helped collaborate with the Sacramento Pride Committee for the 2020 virtual Pride celebration.

Starting Sunday June 21 a series of videos will be available at that focus on education, social justice, spirituality, entertainment and games.

In particular interest is the “Good Vibes” video premiering on the 21st.  See a number of UMC congregations and faith leaders talk about inclusivity and resources for those seeking spirituality in a number of different faiths.

Check out the many other exciting events scheduled during the week. The events culminate on Sunday the 28th with a virtual march. Pride Collective members will also be featured in the virtual march.

About the UMC Pride Collective

The Sacramento Methodist Pride Collective is a group of local Central Valley churches that sprang up in the wake of the 2019 General Conference vote to support the “Traditional Plan,” which imposed additional penalties on LGBTQ clergy and same sex weddings within the Church.

Local Sacramento UMC Churches responded with love, joining together to march in what became the largest contingent in the 2019 Sacramento Pride Parade, with over 300 marchers from 15 area churches.

The Sac MPC decided to continue our work together as a group, supporting the LGBTQ+ community in the Church and beyond.
